Organized in 2008, The South County Professional Fire Fighters Association represents the suppression personnel of Montgomery County Emergency Service District #8; also known as, "South Montgomery County Fire Department". "SCPFFA" is a local affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Texas State Association of Fire Fighters. The Fire Department is located in Montgomery County just south of The Woodlands, TX. Its area covering approximately 56 square miles that starts on I-45 at the Harris/Montgomery county line on the South and goes North to the city of Shenandoah, and runs east between Spring Creek, and San Jacinto river, and west on Sawdust to The Woodlands. The district is an ISO class 1 community. The South Montgomery County Fire Department is a growing career department, divided into three shifts, working a nine day rotation. Meaning; its firefighters work 24 on/24 off. Working this schedule for 3 shifts then off for 4 days straight and the cycle starts over. The fire department is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year with a daily minimum staffing of 24 suppression personnel. This does not include the daily administrative and support staff. The South Montgomery County Fire Department responds to Fire and Medical calls with in its response area, and outside area as requested.
